Learning Objectives: 1) Discuss national and International initiatives as related to the public health agenda. 2) Access and use morbidity and mortality WHO statistics as one basis for physical therapy prevention intervention. 3) Interpret global statistics in terms of supply and demand for physical therapy services, including emerging scope of practice in the areas of prevention and health promotion. 4) Estimate occurrence and risk of global medical diagnoses encountered in physical therapy practice. 5) Identify and assess the impact of health disparities among different racial and socioeconomic groups in the global community. 6) Estimate and assess the potential effects of a prevention and health promotion on the world's population. 7) Identify and describe various mechanisms for increasing global awareness of prevention and health promotion in physical therapy practice.
