CHI 1312 - Elementary Chinese II |
This course is the continuation of Chinese 1311, an introductory course in Chinese (Mandarin) designed for students with some knowledge in the language. The aim of this course is to provide further integrated training in speaking, listening, reading and writing through interactive classroom activities and home assignments toward mastering the pre-intermediate Chinese, Students are introduced to grammatical patterns in sequential fashion, learn the pinyin system of Romanization in order to assist mastery of oral Chinese, acquire the rules of stroke order for written Chinese simplified characters. Students should attain a basic level of competence in oral and written Chinese, current Chinese cultural issues and a working knowledge of approximately 1000 vocabulary items by the end of the course.
