CHI 1318 - Introduction to China in the World

CHI 1318 is an introductory course on the general history of China and its engagement with the rest of the world. In addition, students will learn about the linguistic features of the Sino-Tibetan language family spoken in China and surrounding communities, and how the youth in China use the language to engagte the outside world through social media. All materials for the course will be in English and discussions of culturally related topics will be conducted in English. CHI 1318 fits the General Education Foreign Language and Culture Area of Knowledge and fulfils the curricular them of globalization. Student learning outcome for the course is Oral Communication.
