CLS 2302 - Medical Biochemistry |
This is a one semester course that emphasizes protein structure, function, synthesis, and characterization; energy yielding metabolism of sugars; biological membranes and pathways; flow of genetic information, DNA and RNA structure; constructing and cloning DNA; gene expression in eukaryotes and prokaryotes; viruses and oncogenes; and enzymes and enzymatic activities. Emphasis is placed on how each of these molecules affect health and disease. Prerequisites: You are expected to have had some college level biology and chemistry experience. The first unit reviews the necessary information from these foundational courses so it is ok if you are 'rusty.'
