HCM 2305 - Introduction to Healthcare Management |
Within the context of health care, this course will provide students with a fundamental, introductory understanding of the basic principles of management and managerial functions as a framework for the health care field. This will prepare potential Healthcare Management undergraduate students to enter the program's higher level courses with a clear understanding of the expectations as relates to professional pathway options. Different functions of healthcare managers will be discussed including but not limited to planning, staffing, organizing, and analysis. Practical examples, applications, issues, and exercises requiring critical thinking and effective written and oral presentations will be emphasized. Inventory assessment tools will also be applied to students to help them visualize the best area or specialty for their skills and professional goals. This will also help them decide which healthcare management track wil be the most appropriate for them to pursue.
